Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Qualification aim

These qualifications are appropriate for all new entrants to teaching in the lifelong learning sector, or for those who are required to work towards achieving a recognised teaching status as defined in the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the lifelong learning sector. These qualifications will be taken by all teachers, in a full or associated role.

There is one mandatory unit at each level:

Unit 01 Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector

Assessment

Internally assessed and externally moderated portfolio which includes a micro teach session.

Level 1 Award in Working with Children

Award aim

This qualification aims to enable learners to develop the basic knowledge and understanding of the needs of young children, aged from birth to 5 years based in a variety of settings. It also helps learners understand their role in supporting children’s development. The qualification allows learners to develop the basic skills needed to support playwork, out-of-school and early years settings.

Unit 01 Create a safe environment for young children

Unit 02 Encouraging children to eat healthily

Unit 03 Working in a team

Unit 04 Contribute to equality of opportunity in support of young children’s development

Unit 05 Providing a range of appropriate play activities for young children

 

This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units.
